Mindy Kalinowski Earley
Chief Learning Officer, Family Office Exchange
Mindy Kalinowski Earley is Chief Learning Officer for Family Office Exchange. In her role, she leads the FOX Learning Center, fosters integrated learning programs for enterprise families and is responsible for developing the family learning community. She co-chairs FOX’s Rising Gen programming and serves as an outsourced Chief Learning Officer. In her consulting work, Mindy works closely with families and family offices to create learning programs, lead family meetings, facilitate multigenerational conversations, integrate the rising generation into family governance, and spearhead projects focused on family cohesion.
Over her career, Mindy has worked in two single family offices where she was responsible for creating and stewarding professional learning networks supporting human and intellectual capital. She designed learning experiences that increased the knowledge base and enhanced the life path of individuals while providing personalized support and coaching to help them meet their goals. She is a trained facilitator for the Strong Interest Inventory assessment, has a certificate in Family Business Advising and has a coaching certificate from the Association for Talent Development. Mindy enjoys helping families and rising generation members navigate the unique world of family enterprise and family relationships by understanding that responsibility and intention pave a path to personal achievement and satisfaction. She has a M.A. in Education with a focus on learning development and educational theory from Grand Valley State University. She has been featured in the New York Times, Family Business Magazine, and Successful Generations podcast and is a regular speaker and facilitator. Mindy lives in Grand Rapids, MI.
Alison Getz Bates
5th-generation family member, Globe Corporation
Alison Getz Bates is the first born in the fifth generation of her family company, Globe Corporation.
Originally from Scottsdale, Arizona, Alison attended the University of Southern California, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2018. After graduation, Alison moved to Washington D.C., where she worked as a consultant for DCI Group. In 2020, Alison helped create and manage a COVID contact tracing company. Most recently, Alison has moved back to Arizona and began working for the Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry as a Membership Accounts Manager. She is proud to be working closely with corporations in her home state and keeping Arizona competitive in the business sector.
Alison has recently taken on a role in her family office of organizing her generation’s annual retreat. Working with her cousins, Alison was able to pull of a successful first “G5 Retreat” around their grandfather’s 85th birthday. She is excited to be working with the family office and keep her cousins close while learning how this generation can be active and responsible members within the family company.
In her free time, Alison enjoys traveling, painting, reading, playing golf and tennis, and, above all, spending time with her family. Alison and her husband, Streator, live in Phoenix, Arizona with their golden retriever puppy, Palmer.
David Shaw
Publishing Director, Family Business Magazine
David Shaw is the publishing director for MLR Media. He also co-founded and serves as conference director of the Transitions conferences, the Private Company Governance Summit and Family Business Legacy. David writes frequently on governance issues for public and private companies, and develops and maintains close relationships with multi-generational family-owned businesses. He is married, with two grown children.
