Carey Jaros, a non-family executive who had served as as chief operating officer at GOJO Industries, has been promoted to president and CEO of the Akron, Ohio-based inventor of Purell Instant Hand Sanitizer.
With the promotion of Jaros, effective Jan. 1, the top two leaders of the company are now women. Third-generation family member Marcella Kanfer Rolnick became GOJO's executive chair in May 2018. She is responsible for vision setting, long-term strategy, sound governance and stewardship of the family values and culture.
Jaros joined GOJO in 2016 as chief strategy officer and was named COO in 2018. She succeeds Mark Lerner, also a non-family member, who will become senior adviser and president emeritus. In that role, he will sponsor key enterprise project teams and advise GOJO leadership team members. Lerner will continue to serve on GOJO's board of directors.
Kanfer Rolnick is the daughter of Joe Kanfer, the second-generation family leader, who transitioned from chair and CEO in May 2018 and now holds the title of “venturer” at the company. He is a member of the GOJO board and, as an adviser and coach, helps to generate new ideas.
Tyler Joseph has been promoted to digital marketing manager at Penn Emblem Co. of Trevose, Pa. Joseph is the great-grandson of Frank Blumenthal, who founded the branding and decoration solutions company, and the son of CEO Randi Blumenthal-Joseph.
Joseph joined Penn Emblem in 2017 as a logistics coordinator. In January 2019, he became a project manager in the IT department, where his planning and analysis resulted in the company's current customer relationship management strategy.
In his new role in marketing, he will manage internal and external communication strategies and drive growth.
Bill Gisel, longtime non-family CEO of Rich Products Corporation, is the new executive vice chair of Buffalo, N.Y.-based Rich Holdings Inc., effective Jan. 1, 2020.
Rich Holdings is the holding company for all Rich family business enterprises, including logistics, sports, travel, dining and theater.
Richard Ferranti, who had been Rich Products' president and chief operating officer, succeeds Gisel as CEO of the $4 billion global food business.
Gisel joined Rich's in 1982 as the company's first general counsel. He became president and COO in 1996 and was named CEO in 2006. He spearheaded the global expansion of the company, which quadrupled in size under his leadership.
In his new role, Gisel will focus on corporate strategy, long-term growth and organizational excellence.
Ferranti, who was promoted to president in April 2018, joined the company in 1986. Early in his tenure, he served in a series of sales and marketing roles. In 1997, he became president of the company's international business group. He later was named president of the North America business group before becoming COO in 2012.
