After chairman's death, Pernod Ricard promotes nephew

Pernod Ricard has promoted Alexandre Ricard to deputy CEO and chief operating officer with an eye to elevating him to chairman and CEO at the end of January 2015,

Bloomberg reported.

Alexandre Ricard is the nephew of Patrick Ricard, who led the company for more than three decades before his sudden death on Aug. 17 at age 67. The company is France’s biggest distiller; its brands include Absolut vodka and Chivas Regal whiskey.

Alexandre Ricard has worked at the company’s Irish Distillers unit, which includes Jameson whiskey, and has run the distribution network since September 2011, the Bloomberg report said.

The company also announced that Daniele Ricard, Patrick Ricard’s sister, will become chairman. (Source: Bloomberg, Aug. 30, 2012.)
