Yannick Bolloré, the 33-year-old son of French billionaire Vincent Bolloré, has been named CEO of French advertising group Havas SA,
the
Wall Street Journal
reported.
Yannick Bolloré succeeded his father as chairman of the company in August. The senior Bolloré is Havas’s largest single shareholder; he owns 37% of the company. “Mr. Bolloré in recent years has paved the way for his son to take a bigger role at Havas as he himself increasingly stepped back,” the
Journal
report said.
Yannick Bolloré managed the media operations of Groupe Bolloré between 2009 and 2012 before joining Havas as managing director, the
Journal
article said. However, he is “fairly new to global advertising,” the report noted.
Vincent Bolloré, who is “[w]idely known for his financial success in a string of corporate raids,” became vice chairman of Vivendi, a French media, telecom and entertainment conglomerate, a few months ago,
the
Financial Times
reported.
Observers have speculated that Havas migiht merge with Vivendi, the
FT
article said.
Yannick Bolloré replaces David Jones, 47, who is leaving Havas to co-found a Silicon Valley tech startup, the
Journal
