Diaz Foods acquires La Cena Fine Foods




Diaz Foods, a family-owned marketer of specialty foods based in Atlanta,

has acquired

La Cena Fine Foods Ltd. of Saddle Brook, N.J.


La Cena, which offers a line of branded Caribbean foods throughout the Northeast, was founded by Don Vicente Puig & Co, in Cuba in 1923. The company, formerly known as Vicente Puig & Co., moved to the U.S. in 1960.


Diaz Foods, founded by Domingo Diaz and Julio Rene Diaz in 1980 as an outgrowth of the family's grocery stores, generates more than $200 million in annual revenues. Diaz's distribution network covers more than 24 states; the company is planning to expand into the Northeast.
