The program for
“Transitions 2011: Family Governance, Legacy, Wealth and Generational Change”
has been enhanced with additional events and speakers. “Transitions” — the second annual conference presented by Family Business Magazine and Stetson University’s Family Enterprise Center — will be held April 7-8 at the Grand Bohemian Hotel in Orlando, Fla.
On Thursday evening, April 7, conference participants will dine at Del Frisco’s Prime Steak and Lobster, a multi-generational, award-winning Orlando restaurant. Del Frisco’s owner, Carole Christner, and her son, David Christner, the company’s president, will speak at the dinner. Attendees will travel to the restaurant via Mears Transportation, a third-generation company based in Orlando.
At special April 7 session entitled “What the Next Generation Wants and Needs,” Stetson University Professor Greg McCann and four students in Stetson’s family business program — Alyssa Thompson, Chris Marlow, Nina Laureano and Justin Munizzi — will meet separately with next-generation conference participants to discuss their concerns and expectations about their future roles in their family companies. The group will then present a summary of their discussions to the full group.
