Glen Senk, who surprised the business world by resigning suddenly from his post as CEO of Urban Outfitters, will become CEO of David Yurman and will take an ownership stake in the company,
Crain’s New York Business
reported.
David and Sybil Yurman founded the jewelry company 32 years ago. They said the move will enable them to focus on jewelry design, the article said. The company has been without a CEO for nearly 18 months; Paul Blum, who had been CEO for four years, left the company in 2010.
The
Crain’s
report said “retail insiders were surprised” by Senk’s appointment “and speculate that it means David Yurman will now be venturing beyond jewelry into other areas of business, such as home products and accessories.”
Senk said in a statement that he has known the Yurmans for a “long time,” the article said. (Source:
