Family-owned Portland bakery bids for Hostess's bread assets




United States Bakery Inc., a fourth-generation family-owned company also known as Franz Family Bakery, is offering $28.85 million for Hostess Brands Inc.’s bread assets,

the

Wall Street Journal

reported.

Franz, based in Portland, Ore., is bidding for brands that include Sweetheart, Eddy’s, Standish Farms and Grandma Emilies.

The bid sets a floor price for the bread brands, which will be offered at a bankruptcy auction, the

Journal

article said.

Franz has agreed to buy four bakeries, 14 depots and equipment in addition to the bread brands, according to the

Journal
