Johnson Publishing CEO says she’s not planning to sell




Linda Johnson Rice, chairman and CEO of Johnson Publishing Co. and daughter of the founder, says she has no immediate plans to sell the company or its flagship publication,

Ebony

magazine,

the

Chicago Sun-Times

reported.

“I have no plans to sell the company. None,” Rice said, adding that she cannot say what might happen in the future.

Rice made the comments as she introduced Amy DuBois Barrett, former deputy editor-in-chief of

Harper’s Bazaar,

as the new editor-in-chief of

Ebony.

Earlier media reports said talks to sell Johnson Publishing Co. to basketball Earvin “Magic” Johnson had fallen through. Bloomberg News quoted [Magic] Johnson on Feb. 23 as saying that an affiliate of his company couldn’t come to an agreement to buy Johnson Publishing Co., despite advanced talks.
