Judge hears Redstone's video testimony

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David J. Cowan heard a videotaped deposition by media mogul Sumner Redstone and said he would consider Redstone's lawyers' request to dismiss the suit filed by Manuela Herzer, a former girlfriend of the 92-year-old controlling shareholder of Viacom and CBS.

that Redstone said in the deposition, “I hate her,” referring to Herzer, as well as “I want Manuela out of my life.” He also used an expletive to refer to her.

Herzer is challenging Redstone's mental capacity. The trial was expected to last seven days, the article said.

“If Herzer's attorneys can prove that Redstone lacks capacity, there could be a change in control at the two companies Redstone controls, Viacom and CBS,” the article said. “The Redstone family holds nearly 80% of the voting shares in the two companies, and if Redstone dies or becomes incapacitated, seven trustees, including the mogul's daughter Shari Redstone, would take over decision-making authority over Redstone's stock holdings.” (Source:
