Despite a lobbying campaign by some investors to unseat them, News Corp. said chairman Rupert Murdoch and his sons, James and Lachlan, were reelected to the company’s board along with the rest of the directors,
the
Los Angeles Times
reported.
Murdoch and his family control about 40% of the voting shares, and a close ally controls another 7%. “That meant nearly every other shareholder would have had to vote against Murdoch to topple him,” the
LA Times
article said.
Tom Watson, a member of Britain’s Parliament who has been investigating charges of phone hacking against News Corp., traveled to the shareholder meeting in Los Angeles and said News Corp. could face civil lawsuits, the article said. (Source:
