Washington Post acquires hospice firm




The Washington Post Co. is moving in a new direction with the acquisition of a majority stake in Celtic Healthcare, which provides skilled home health care and hospice services in the Northeast and Midwest regions of the U.S.


A report in the

Washington Post


said the purchase price was not disclosed. Post Co. CEO Donald Graham said in a statement that the acquisition is “part of the Post Co.’s ongoing strategy of investing in companies with demonstrated earnings potential and strong management teams attracted to our long-term investment horizon,” the article said.

In addition to the newspaper, the Post Co. owns Kaplan education businesses, a cable unit and 6 local broadcast TV stations. (Source:
