The Washington Post’s polling operation will become an independent group of Washington Post media and will begin doing work for outside clients,
media blogger Jim Romenesko reported.
The group, which will be called Capital Insight, will continue to do work for the
Post
. A memo from the
Post
‘s executive editor, Marty Baron to newsroom staff, posted on Romenesko’s website, said the polling group will “grow a new business for the company while serving the newsroom and the advertising department.”
The
Post’
s news editor, Scott Vance, will oversee polls conducted by Capital Insight for the newspaper.
A Washington Post Media press release said the company moved the polling department out of the
Post’
s newsroom and into the Research & Analytics unit tow years ago. (Source: JimRomenesko.com, Jan. 8, 2013.)
