Washington Post's polling operation becomes independent group




The Washington Post’s polling operation will become an independent group of Washington Post media and will begin doing work for outside clients,

media blogger Jim Romenesko reported.

The group, which will be called Capital Insight, will continue to do work for the

Post

. A memo from the

Post

‘s executive editor, Marty Baron to newsroom staff, posted on Romenesko’s website, said the polling group will “grow a new business for the company while serving the newsroom and the advertising department.”

The

Post’

s news editor, Scott Vance, will oversee polls conducted by Capital Insight for the newspaper.

A Washington Post Media press release said the company moved the polling department out of the

Post’
