D.G. Yuengling & Son, the historic Pottsville, Pa., brewery whose beers are now available in 14 states, might build another brewing facility next year, owner and president Dick Yuengling Jr.
told the
Patriot-News,
a Central Pennsylvania newspaper. However, Yuengling said, the new brewery likely will not be located in Pennsylvania, where the company was founded in 1829.
The company’s sales could approach 3 million barrels by the end of 2012, the article said. In 1986, the year after Dick Yuengling bought the brewery from his father, it was producing 137,000 barrels, according to the report.
Yuengling told the
Patriot-News
that taxes, incentives and the state’s business climate were discouraging him from considering Pennsylvania for his new facility. (Source:
