Thomson Reuters to cut about 2,000 jobs




Family-controlled Thomson Reuters Corp. will lay off about 2,000 workers in the current quarter,

Dow Jones News Service reported.

The units most affected will be the Financial & Risk business and the Enterprise, Technology & Operations Group, the article said. None of the cuts will involve the newsroom, the article said.

Thomson Reuters has about 48,000 employees worldwide, according to the report. The layoffs will affect 150 locations in 39 countries, the article said.

The company recently sold its intellectual property and science business to private equity funds affiliated with Onex Corp. and Baring Private Equity Asia as part of its plan to stabilize its core businesses, the article said.  (Source: Dow Jones News Service, Nov. 1, 2016.)
