Fourth-generation Idaho farm shifts its focus

The Williamson family of Idaho’s Snake River Valley has been farming on the same plot of land since 1909. The family began as dairy farmers and later grew cherries, peaches, apricots and plums. Today, fourth-generation siblings Beverly and Michael Williamson and their cousin Patrick grow grapes for the state’s winemakers,

KIVI TV reported.

“The Williamsons planted their first batch of grape vines in the late 1990s as the Idaho wine industry first began to blossom,” the article said. Today, they grow more than eight types of grapes for more than six wineries.

The family hopes to expand their vineyard by a few acres each year, the article said. (Source: KIVI TV, Nov. 20, 2016.)
