Fourth-generation member elected chairman of First Banks Inc.




Fourth-generation member Michael J. Dierberg

has been elected chairman

of First Banks Inc., the parent company of St. Louis-based First Bank. Dierberg, the current vice chairman, will succeed his father, James F. Dierberg, effective January 1.

of First Banks Inc., the parent company of St. Louis-based First Bank. Dierberg, the current vice chairman, will succeed his father, James F. Dierberg, effective January 1.


The senior Dierberg will remain on the board. James F. (Jim) Dierberg, succeeded his father as president of the family-owned bank in 1966. At the time, it was known as Creve Coeur Farmer’s Bank and was a small, community institution. It later became First Missouri Bank and ultimately First Bank; today, it has 111 locations in California, Illinois and Missouri and assets of $5.93 billion.


Michael Dierberg is an attorney, He served as First Bank’s general counsel as well as an attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice and at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in Washington, D.C.
