Stryker acquires robotic surgery company




Stryker Corp. has agreed to acquire Mako Surgical Corp. of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., which makes a robotic arm used by surgeons in knee and hip replacement surgery,

the

Wall Street Journal

reported.

The price was about $1.65 billion, the article said.

Mako’s product complements Stryker’s existing line of replacement hip and knee joints, the article said.

Shares of Stryker declined on the news, “with some investors questioning the high purchase price,” the
