Vivendi SA plans to buy most of the Guillemot family’s stake in Gameloft SE,
the
Wall Street Journal
reported.
Vivendi is controlled by French billionaire Vincent Bolloré.
Gameloft, which creates games for mobile phones, was founded by Michel Guillemot and his four brothers in 1999 and had sales of €256.2 million in 2015. The family said it had decided to sell most of its shares “with regret,” the article said. Vivendi, which had controlled about 56% of the voting rights in the company, made an unsolicited takeover offer for the company earlier this year, the report said.
“The Guillemot family failed in a court bid to block Vivendi’s tender offer for Gameloft, leaving them with few options to fight off Vivendi,” the
Journal
article said. (Source:
