What Is a True Family Office? Exploring different structures and paths to success

Exploring different structures and paths to success

The term “family office” is widely used — but often misunderstood and rarely well-defined. Today, firms across the wealth management spectrum, from private banks to RIAs, market “family office services,” yet few truly operate as a fully integrated family office.

In this webinar, we’ll examine what a family office actually is, the range of family office structures in use today, and what an optimal family office looks like.

You’ll gain insights into:

  • Why offering “family office services” is not the same as functioning as a true family office.
  • How the most effective family offices are built from the top down, starting with the family’s objectives and balance sheet.
  • Why integration — not the number of services offered — defines a true family office.
  • How successful family offices align investment, tax, estate and operational decisions within a single framework.
  • How a properly integrated family office can improve outcomes, from tax efficiency and estate planning to risk management and peace of mind.

Join Cerity Partners’ Justyn Volesko, partner and co-head of Cerity Partners Family Office; Andrew Cooper, partner and co-head of Cerity Partners Family Office; and Jennette Brilliant, partner; along with David Shaw, publishing director of Family Business Magazine, for a practical discussion on what defines a true family office.
