Belk makes deals with SEC, Cowboys cheerleaders




Family-owned Belk Inc., the largest privately owned department store chain in the U.S., has signed a six-year contract to sponsor the Southeastern Conference and SEC Network,

the

Charlotte Business Journal

reported.

Belk, which has 300 stores in 16 Southern states, will become the official retail department store of the SEC, the article said.

The SEC Network, scheduled to launch on August 14, plans to broadcast 1,000 events in its first year, including football, men’s and women’s basketball, and baseball.

Belk also sponsors the Belk Bowl, played by teams from the SEC and the Atlantic Coast Championship, in late December.


Previously, the

that Belk Inc. signed a three-year agreement with the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders that will include endorsements, appearances and co-branded marketing initiatives. Belk apparel will be featured on the ninth season of

Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders — Making the Team,
