Follett Corp. has agreed to acquire Baker & Taylor, a distributor of books, video and music products to public libraries and a wholesaler to retailers,
the
Charlotte Business Journal
reported.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Combined, the companies generate revenues of $3.6 billion, the article said. Follett, a family-owned company, is based in Westchester, Ill. It delivers print and digital content, technology and support services to libraries and schools serving grades Pre-K through 12; it also serves colleges through campus retail stores and virtual stores, course materials sales and rentals, and an e-commerce site.
Baker & Taylor is based in Charlotte, N.C., and is expected to continue operating there under its existing management team, the journal article said. (Source:
