Ford names its first female family executive




Elena Ford, 46, granddaughter of Henry Ford II and great-great-granddaughter of founder Henry Ford, has been elected a vice president at Ford Motor Co.,

reported.

She becomes the first female Ford family member to hold a significant post at the company, the article said.

Elena Ford is the daughter of Charlotte Ford and Greek shipping magnate Stavros Niarchos.

The last time a Ford family member was named a corporate officer was in 1994, when Elena’s cousin Bill Ford became vice president of commercial trucks. He rose to become chairman, president and CEO and is now the company’s executive chairman.

Elena Ford will run the new global dealer and corporate experience unit, the article said. She will also work to improve vehicle quality and delivery time of vehicles from the factory to dealers and customers, the

Elena Ford joined the company in 1995 and had previously been a senior account executive at an ad agency. She has held several marketing and communications posts in the company. Since 2009, she had been director, global marketing, sales and service operations. (Source:
