A win-win-win transition is one where you, your successors and the business all come out ahead. That depends on one thing: a next generation ready to take ownership.
Readiness is built by doing the work together. It doesn’t happen while everyone waits for the next generation to be “ready.” Succession is not a single future event, but a series of decisions about what the current owner begins to release and what the next generation needs to learn. Too often, those conversations get postponed and progress stalls.

In this webinar, you’ll better understand how:
- Preparing the next generation for ownership starts by bringing them into the “real work” now, well before they look ready.
- Real readiness is a journey, not an event. It plays out across many “whens,” as the owner releases one role at a time and the next generation grows into others.
- A handoff doesn’t have to be win-lose. It can be designed so the owner, the next generation and the business each get what they need.
- The strongest path forward is a shared process, where the current owner and the next generation work on real issues together. A vague “someday” becomes concrete decisions and momentum neither could build alone.
Please join Elizabeth Ledoux, founder and head strategist of The Transition Strategists; Andrea Carpenter, president of The Transition Strategists; and David Shaw, publishing director of Family business Magazine, for a discussion on how to design a transition that prepares the next generation for ownership — and how to make it a win for everyone involved.
You’ll also hear from Laurie and Brad Irish-Jones of the fourth-generation family-owned Irish Family Companies, who completed their own transition as a family across two generations. They’ll share how they did it, what worked and their advice for families facing a transition of their own.
