Moersch family doubles wine production with Tabor Hill acquisition

Entente Spirits, which is based in Southwest Michigan and owned by the Moersch family, has acquired Tabor Hill Winery, the fourth-largest winery in the state,

the

Detroit News

reported.

Entente Spirits operates Round Barn Winery, Free Run Cellars and Round Barn Public House. The acquisition will more than double the company’s annual wine production and will add 25 acres, a restaurant and three retail locations, the article said.

Entente founder Rick Moersch began his winemaking career at Tabor Hill in 1979, the

Detroit News

report noted. He was promoted to head winemaker in 1981. He and his wife, Sherrie, bought a farm next door to Tabor Hill that year and sold their grapes to Tabor Hill. They opened their own winery on their farm in 1992, the article said.

David Frederick Upton, the former owner of Tabor Hill, died in 2009, the article said.
