Nordstrom expanding into Canada

U.S. luxury retailer Nordstrom Inc. will open four Nordstrom stores in Canada, the company’s first international venture,

Reuters reported.

The company will open a store in Calgary’s Chinook Centre in 2014, Ottawa’s Rideau Centre and Vancouver’s Pacific Centre in 2015 and Toronto’s Sherway Gardens in 2016.

The plan has been years in the making; Blake Nordstrom called it “the worst-kept secret,” the Reuters report said.

The company also plans to open its lower-priced Rack stores in Canada, the article said. Blake Nordstrom told Reuters he sees the potential for up to nine Nordstrom stores and 12 to 15 Racks in that country, Reuters reported. (Source: Reuters, Sept. 13, 2012.)
