Pilot Flying J CEO fights deposition order

Pilot Flying J CEO Jimmy Haslam “has asked an Alabama judge to reconsider, amend or vacate” a deposition order that could force him to testify in a case involving rebate fraud by his family’s $31 billion truck stop chain,

The Tennessean

reported.

The civil case, filed in Circuit Court, is

Wright Transportation v. Pilot Flying J

. Wright Transportation, a family business based in Alabama, is one of several companies suing Pilot. “A federal investigation into the problem has already led to 10 guilty pleas to federal crimes and another eight federal indictments of former leading executives at the company,” the article said. Jimmy Haslam is not among the indicted executives, the article said.

A Pilot Flying J spokesman said, “There is nothing Mr. Haslam can add to what has become a prolonged litigation by this company,” according to

The Tennessean

report.

The article noted that Haslam has fought efforts to force him to testify in other civil suits related to the scheme. “Although the deposition is connected to a civil case, it is possible federal investigators could use his testimony if they chose,” the report said.  (Source:
